OpenAI has announced its plans to bring social media users’ dreams to life. Together with the British television company Vertigo Films and the American neural network film studio Native Foreign, OpenAI is creating the animated film CRITTERZ. The screenplay for this animated film was written by the writers of the Paddington Bear cartoon.

Earlier, neural networks were also used to create scenes in films. For example, the short film ANCESTRA, created by Eliza McNitt, about maternal love, uses neural network generations. The film was produced at Primordial Soup, a studio owned by film director Darren Aronofsky, with support from Google Creative Lab, the neural network scaling mentorship project AI FIRST, and the Google DeepMind laboratory. The film premiered at the TRIBECA 2025 film festival.

In 2018, Eliza McNitt and Darren Aronofsky created a three-part film about space travel in virtual reality (VR) entitled “Spheres: Songs of Space-Time.” Darren Aronofsky also creates video content for the popular Sphere cinema in Las Vegas (USA).

2. SYNTHESIA

Another avatar creation platform that allows you to generate up to 3 minutes of avatar video per month on the free plan. You'll also gain access to the editor and 9 AI avatars. Two standard custom avatars can be created. The free plan supports 140 languages, as well as uploading your own images and videos, screen recording, automatic subtitles, PowerPoint import, and video embedding. This service is especially useful for creating marketing videos and presentations.

3. ANIMOTO

A simple yet interesting video editor that uses artificial intelligence to create videos from video clips, music, and text. You can use it to make a beautiful video presentation or a basic video ad. It offers a wide range of tools and templates. The free plan allows you to create unlimited standard-quality videos (720p), gives access to 50+ music tracks, 3 standard fonts, 30 color themes, and a stock media library. The free license restricts only commercial use. Another limitation is the watermark. A fairly useful service for marketers, educators, and small businesses.

4. PICTORY

This service includes a video creation tool, a slide editor, and a video editor. The 14-day trial version allows you to create 3 videos of up to 15 minutes in 720p resolution, with access to a large library of music tracks (5,000), voiceover by ElevenLabs, and up to 50 slides. Free videos include a watermark. This tool is also suitable for creating presentation and advertising content.

5. RUNWAY GEN-2

Once the avatars are created and presenting our achievements, we can move on to generating the main content. This is where a neural video generator that brings our imagination to the screen comes in. An excellent video creation tool from the research company Runway, which also works in the film industry with its generator LTX Studio. The free plan includes 125 one-time credits (125 credits = 25 sec of Gen-2, 8 sec of Gen-1, or 25 image generations). It supports Gen-3 Alpha Turbo (Image to Video) up to 10 seconds, Gen-1 (Video to Video) up to 4 seconds, and Gen-2 (Text & Image to Video) up to 16 seconds via Extend Video (which adds additional frames to extend the video from another perspective). A multimodal service that was previously available for free through Dream Machine by Luma, now expanded to include multiple models. The service offers cutting-edge models and 4 free credits, which allow users to generate two 5-second videos using basic models like Runway or Kling AI.

LUMA has moved away from this service and now provides only free image generation and paid short video generation (5–10 seconds in high quality) through its DREAM MACHINE interface.

7. GENMO AI

A decent text-based video generator using the open-source video generation model MOCHI1, which is also available on HUGGINGFACE under the Apache 2.0 license, as well as on GitHub. Upon registration, users receive 200 credits, which is enough for 2 long videos or 20 short ones. After the initial credits are used up, users receive 50 credits per month. Videos on the free plan come with a watermark. Currently, videos are generated in 480p resolution, but HD mode is expected soon. The project has attracted over $28 million in investment. The developers focus on physics and realism in videos, claiming to narrow the gap between AI-generated and real video. We’ll gladly follow the project’s development, as we are particularly interested in video realism in this field.

8. PIKA ART

Social media content creation can be streamlined with this popular service from Pika Labs, which offers 80 credits per month in the free plan. Most people have seen transforming photos on social media — for example, aging effects — that’s the Pikaframes mode. It costs 8 credits for a 5-second video in 720p, and 25 credits in 1080p; a 10-second video in 720p costs 15 credits, and 60 credits in 1080p. For image/text-to-video: 5 seconds in 720p costs 6 credits, and 18 in 1080p; 10 seconds in 720p costs 12 credits, and 45 in 1080p. Another popular mode on social media is Pikascenes — where you can inflate yourself, get crushed, buried in sand, and more. A 5-second video in 720p costs 15 credits, and 35 credits in 1080p; 10 seconds in 720p costs 30 credits, and 100 in 1080p.

9. KLING AI

Another popular neural network from the Chinese social platform Kuaishou Technology for video creation, which is constantly being updated. Upon registration, users receive 166 credits per month. The number of credits used depends on the tools and neural networks selected. For example, a 5-second 16:9 video with one output (one video) costs 20 credits. If the video fails to generate, the credits are refunded. The free plan includes a watermark. A very powerful and visually appealing video generation tool with a fairly simple interface and lots of features.

10. VIVAGO AI

A quite user-friendly video generator with all the necessary tools. On the free plan, it creates short videos up to 5 seconds in 720p resolution. 100 daily credits are enough for 3 videos. It also includes background removal and AI avatar creation tools. The free plan provides basic templates and video styles, and supports only single-threaded generation.

As a bonus, I’ll add IMAGINE ART VIDEO STUDIO — part of a powerful multimodal online content creation suite. It creates videos from text and images, short clips, and stories made from short clips based on your scenario. Every 12 hours it gives 50 free credits, which is enough for 3 video generations calculated at 1 token per 15 seconds. But the actual number of tokens needed to generate and export the video can only be known during the process, depending on the desired result.

Similar decent multimodal content generators include POLLO AI, KREA AI, and ADOBE FIREFLY.

HEDRA is an online service for creating talking character videos with lip-syncing (matching mouth movements to spoken audio) based on a text prompt, using your own images as the initial frame. It currently uses Veo2, Imagen 4, and other neural networks. You get 300 free credits, which can be spent on images (from 4 to 14 per image), audio (15 per audio up to 1000 characters), and video (from 3 to 40 per second) depending on the models used. They plan to add the ability to choose which character says what in the video.

D-ID is another talking avatar generator that allows you to create 12 short videos of 5 seconds each for free using 12 starter credits. The free plan includes a watermark and simple avatars, and lets you generate your own avatars from text, upload photos, add text overlays and backgrounds to videos. You can also create AI agents with avatars — a talking AI avatar with custom information and parameters, which it will reference in its replies — a kind of visual MCP (Master Control Program).

CHARACTER.AI is a social network of AI avatar agents. On the free plan, you can create five short talking avatar videos per day, each lasting 3–4 seconds. You can create and voice your avatar either using templates or by uploading your own images and voice. You can also chat with other avatars. A paid subscription allows you to create your own MCP (Master Control Program) — a virtual agent that works with your data.

The service REVEALS creates template-based short videos from your images, making it a great fit for 5-second animations of logos and simple products. You can generate one video per day for free with a watermark. The variety of bright and engaging templates will surely catch your attention.

Advertising videos of up to one minute can be generated by PIPPIT from your images and videos. You can choose an avatar and a voice to deliver the product’s advertising slogans. The product itself can be animated in different ways, depending on the settings. You only need to pay for downloading the video without a watermark.

Template video services, meme creation, and mixing images and videos with motion capture are offered by the cross-platform VIGGLE, where you can create up to 5 videos per day for free, with 2 videos processed simultaneously. There is also an option to create songs and add them as soundtracks to videos, thus creating something like music clips based on your photo.

Google's new service SPARKIFY allows you to create fun animated videos by combining two neural networks — Gemini for scriptwriting and Veo for visual generation. Besides this, Google offers several free generations in its service WHISK, where you can create or upload images, as well as generate videos with sound.

Video generation with audio tracks is offered by the popular platform among bloggers, FLIKI. It allows you to create videos from text, web page links, presentations, and audio recordings. The service includes templates with avatars and a wide selection of voices. The free plan offers 5 minutes of video per month, along with various options for earning credits.

The image editing and video creation platform PIXELCUT allows you to edit images for free, for example by removing the background or expanding them to 16:9, and then create short videos from the images, though with some limitations and up to 3 uploads per day.

The image generation service LOVEART doesn't just generate images, it plans the process and lays out your options based on a text prompt. Upon registration, it gives 900 monthly credits, which can be spent on creating around 40 images with editing on an infinite canvas. From these images, the service creates videos — approximately 80 credits for five seconds using the Kling model.

On the ROBONEO platform, you can create and edit images, generate avatars, branded marketing visuals, and videos — all for free. The service is conditionally free, but this may not last forever. Mobile versions are available.

The test model ZEROSCOPE generates three-second videos from text for free. The generated videos can be downloaded.

MIRAGE also offers the ability to create talking avatars. It first allows you to generate avatar speech or upload your own audio, then creates a video by splitting it into 4-second segments and stitching them together. The initial 600 credits provided should be enough for 60 seconds of video. This is also offered by the neural network from the owner of TikTok, the company ByteDance, called OMNIHUMAN1, which provides 6 credits for a trial, enough for 5 seconds of creating a talking avatar.

You can create avatars on VISIONSTORY, which gives you 14 credits — with one credit allowing you to generate a video of up to 30 seconds in 480p resolution. You also receive 4 additional credits each week. Another service that generates avatars is CREATIFY, which provides 10 free credits per month — enough for approximately two videos of up to 1 minute. Both platforms apply a watermark to videos generated on the free plan.

The avatar generator VMAKER allows you to create free video avatars up to 1 minute long, with a variety of effects and subtitles, as well as the ability to export and publish up to 3 videos with music on YouTube.

Another avatar generator, JOGGAI, offers 3 free credits to generate up to 3 videos (up to 30 seconds each) with one of the avatars. Free videos include a watermark.

The AISTUDIOS platform generates avatars, converts text into video, and offers many other tools such as voiceovers and templates. In the free plan, users can generate up to 3 videos per month, each up to 3 minutes long, with a watermark.

The service VEED generates videos from text and slides, adds subtitles, voiceovers, and even creates avatars. On the free plan, you can create and edit videos in 720p for up to 10 minutes and up to 1 GB in size, with a watermark. You also get 2 minutes of free AI-powered subtitle generation. Also available for creating character lip-sync in the Fabric model.

The service MORPHIC provides 100 credits per month to generate 100 images on the canvas. You can also use these credits to generate 5-second videos at 480p resolution from the created images, with start and end frames.

The web service ROBONEO offers image enhancement, watermark removal, and much more. After uploading an image or video, the neural network analyzes them and suggests changes, for example, adding smiles to people. After interacting in the chat, the neural network processes images or video frames based on your request, creating illustrations. Then, from these illustrations, it generates a new video. Everything is free in August 2025.

You can generate videos for free from U.S. IP addresses on the DREAMINA service, even if you receive 0 credits during registration. If you are granted free credits after signing up, be sure to use them.

The FREEBEAT service gives you 500 credits upon registration. This is enough to create about 5 videos, each up to 30 seconds long, with a watermark. The website offers a variety of AI-powered tools for creating clips.

You can also create videos from text and images using the popular social media image and video generator HAILUO AI, which gives 100 free credits per day, with 30 credits needed per video, but with a watermark. Sometimes, you can get 1,000 bonus credits for 3 days during special promotions.

Here, MINIMAX by HAILUO AI can be easily mistaken for the decent free tool MINMAX AI, which generates videos up to 30 seconds long and claims to use cutting-edge technology to maintain consistent visuals across different scenes. The latter, however, states that it has no connection whatsoever to MINIMAX by HAILUO AI.

The SUPAWORK AI service offers 90 credits per day, which can also be accumulated. With these credits, you can generate approximately one video from three images, two videos from a single image, or 90 images from text. The selection of tools is very extensive — similar to the multimodal platform STABILITY AI, although the latter does not always offer free credits.

New users receive 300 free credits for the first 7 days after registration from the SKYREELS platform. After that, 50 credits are added daily. One generation of a 5-second video in 720p resolution from a text prompt costs 25 credits. Occasionally, the website also gives bonus credits — 25 at a time — when you log in.

On the video generation service STIVEAI, you can freely generate up to 20 minutes of video per month using 3 minutes of premium music and 200 premium media assets, as well as publish one video on YouTube.

The FLEXCLIP platform offers to generate one 720p video of up to 10 minutes and one audio file per project. In total, it allows you to create up to 12 projects for free. Videos include a watermark.

The online video editor INVIDEO offers thousands of templates and script generation tools for creating videos. On the free plan, you can create videos up to 10 minutes long based on text prompts or images. You can download up to 4 videos with watermarks. It also provides 10 GB of storage for created videos.

The online video editor KAPWING offers free access to tools for creating and editing videos. In the free plan, it provides 10 minutes of speech transcription and translation, as well as 2 minutes of text-to-speech conversion and 1 minute of lip-syncing in videos. The service supports team collaboration in a unified workspace.

Edit videos on mobile using the INSTAGRAM EDITS app, which includes tools such as retouching, green screen, music library, timer, countdown, automatic enhancement, and AI-based image animation. An Instagram account is required to use the app.

This service, called STABLEVIRTUALCAMERA, generates videos of a camera flying over objects based on your images and offers free generation on Hugging Face. You upload an image, configure the camera movement, and generate a looping flyover video up to 5 seconds long.

The DORASTUDIO service offers the generation of animated maps, charts, tables, and other shape-based animations. It is currently under development.

With the free neural network MAGICTIME, you can create short time-lapse videos (only 2 seconds long, 512×512 resolution) from a text prompt, optionally using a negative prompt to refine the result. You can also create short videos (or GIFs) from text for free using VISPUNK. You can combine and voice them in an editor with generative tools like CLIPCHAMP by Microsoft.

A model with a web interface built on the Gradio framework called ROSE demonstrates on Hugging Face the ability to cut out objects from video.

The frame-by-frame video editing service EBSYNTH allows you to draw in frames, remove, and replace objects in the editor. The neural network then completes these changes in the video. There are limitations for free use, depending on the tools utilized.

You can also try PIXVERSE, KAIBER AI, and IMMERSITY AI (LEIAPIX), which have mobile versions and allow you to generate several videos per day for free. Also try the interface of the popular local model HUNYUAN VIDEO, the image and video generation service WAN.VIDEO from Alibaba Group (10 free credits per day), and another Chinese template-based generator allowing 16 videos per month — MOOTION. On free plans, queues can be quite long, so be patient.

As part of the generative approach to reality, projects focused on photorealistic reconstruction of the real world based on phone photos and videos are rapidly evolving — such as NERFIES, Human4DiT and 4D Gaussian Splatting. Another notable project is a timeline-based facial motion control system with realistic generation by Alibaba.

Video upscaling neural networks such as the industry-leading TOPAZ, as well as PIXOP, NEURAL LOVE, VMAKE, and AI VIDEO ENHANCER, use different algorithms and typically only offer limited previews with watermarks.
