<The video conferencing service from search giant Google, Meet (merged with Google Duo), has announced improvements to its voice translation technology during video calls.
On May 20, 2025, the company announced that new Gemini AI updates will be added to Google Workspace, built directly into tools such as Gmail, Meet, Vids, and Docs.
Google Meet now offers near real-time speech translation with minimal delay. It ensures that the user's voice, tone, and expressions remain audible even during translation, allowing people who speak different languages to have natural conversations.
The service is currently available in beta for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, initially in English and Spanish, with more languages to be added in the coming weeks.
According to Google, the new feature translates the user's spoken words into the listener’s preferred language almost in real time, with low latency and while preserving the original voice, tone, and expression. The result is a conversation that feels genuine and natural — whether it's English-speaking grandchildren casually chatting with their Spanish-speaking grandparents, or colleagues from around the world communicating across continents.
The email service Gmail is getting personalized smart replies that reflect your context and tone. Drafted responses will sound authentic — as if written by you — and match your usual style, since the replies are generated based on your past emails and Drive files.
