DITTO AI CONNECTS STUDENTS USING A NEURAL NETWORK.
23.05.2025
The company Ditto AI, founded by Allen Wang and Eric Liu, and inspired by the series "Black Mirror", has created an AI-powered dating service for students.
The main feature of the service is the absence of traditional likes and swipes. Instead, partners are selected by a neural network. It also arranges the meeting, books a café table, and prepares small surprise gifts.
To use the service, students fill out a questionnaire indicating their preferences, interests, and deal-breakers for potential partners.
Once the neural network receives the questionnaire data, it runs about a thousand conversation simulations between users to determine the most compatible match based on characteristics and qualities.
When the neural network decides it has found a suitable match, it immediately arranges a meeting between the ideal candidates. It also generates conversation topics so students don’t waste time on small talk and can move quickly to meaningful interaction.
Currently, around ten thousand students from California universities are using the app. Registration is only available with a university email address. The company is aiming to thoroughly test the product before expanding further.
Some students are dissatisfied with the app, finding it too automated, which they believe hinders the development of personal experience. Still, as we all remember, Facebook also started as a small student social network. That’s why this new AI-powered approach to romance and dating may hold great promise.
