On May 22, 2025, Anthropic unveiled the next generation of Claude models: Claude Opus 4 and Claude Sonnet 4, setting new standards for coding, advanced reasoning, and AI agents.
Claude Opus 4 is the world’s best coding model, delivering consistent performance on complex, long-running tasks and agent workflows. Claude Sonnet 4 is a major upgrade to Claude Sonnet 3.7, offering superior coding and reasoning, along with more precise responses to your instructions.
Both models can use tools in parallel, follow instructions more accurately, and — when granted access to local files by developers — demonstrate significantly improved memory capabilities, retrieving and retaining key facts to support continuity and the accumulation of implicit knowledge over time.
Claude Code is now available to everyone. Claude Code supports background tasks via GitHub Actions and built-in integration with VS Code and JetBrains, displaying changes directly in files for seamless pair programming.
